Red Flag

Red Flag: Free Spokane High School Program for Teen Dating Abuse Prevention, Healthy Relationships, and Consent Education

Empowering Spokane Teens to Recognize Unhealthy Relationships

Red Flag is one of Create Your Statement’s flagship programs—an engaging, in-class presentation that equips teens with the tools to recognize dating abuse, understand healthy boundaries, and advocate for themselves and others.

Tailored for Spokane-area high school students, Red Flag uses real-life scenarios, pop culture references, and open discussion to help youth identify red flags in relationships—whether they’re seeing them in others or experiencing them themselves. Our trained facilitators create a safe and supportive space for teens to learn, reflect, and speak out.

Why Red Flag Matters

Spokane teens deserve more than just “don’t date” messages—they need real education, real tools, and real conversations. With one of the highest rates of domestic violence in Washington, our community needs programs like Red Flag to create early intervention and prevent cycles of abuse before they start.

What Educators & Teens Are Saying

“Our partnership with Create Your Statement will be an important one in facilitating violence prevention and relationship skill development. We know that this curriculum will be an important element to improve the lives of our youth as they navigate their lives.”

Kelly Pedersen– Rogers High School

Create Your Statement has provided clarity for our students about the respect and responsibility inherent in a caring and loving relationship. Teenagers are bombarded daily with images and experiences of dating relationships that are unhealthy, controlling, and sometimes dangerous. Social media has compounded this problem causing
confusion with teens about how to care for someone in beautiful ways. Jenny Moeller is an expert on how to tactfully and directly address students about appropriate dating
behaviors that has life-long implications for building healthy relationships.

Wendy Watson, EdD Principal, Spokane Garry Middle School

“Statement is helping stomp out abuse before it even starts by educating our young girls and
boys how to not become victims of this epidemic. Not only will the city of Spokane benefit from
this program, but other cities and states as well. I see this program lowering domestic abuse
statistics throughout our country. I stand behind Create Your Statement and it’s mission.”
