Create Your Statement is making a difference!
Many teens will face verbal, physical, sexual or emotional abuse in their relationship before reaching adulthood. Youth Advisory Council: Your Voice, Your Impact
The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a dynamic group of high school and early college students who serve as leaders and changemakers in the movement to prevent dating abuse and promote healthy relationships. Meeting throughout the year, YAC members provide valuable, hands-on feedback to ensure our curricula remain relevant, inclusive, and impactful for the youth we serve. In addition to shaping educational content, council members engage in community outreach, support local initiatives, and develop leadership skills through meaningful volunteer opportunities. YAC empowers youth to use their voices, experiences, and creativity to influence real change. Students can be recommended by a teacher or express interest directly to be considered for this important role.

Real Experiences,
Real Change
“Statement is an organization near and dear to my heart. Growing up, I wish I had mentors to
help me and my friends navigate our way through young, often immature relationships. One
abusive relationship has a profound effect on our self-worth and mental wellbeing, and can begin
a cycle of abuse. Statement empowers teens and preteens by giving them life skills and
confidence we lack when we’re growing up. Every dime you donate is used to strengthen a
young person’s mind. Imagine a world with healthy, happy and loving relationships all around
us. It’s an investment for all of us.”
“The message that ‘Create Your Statement’ presents on Dating Violence is invaluable! Students
are engaged in the presentation because they can relate to it in some form or another. Everyone
should be aware of how to recognize the signs of dating violence and what to do about it. ‘Create
Your Statement’ helps students to know that they are all valuable and no one should diminish
their self worth!”
“Daybreak is extremely grateful to have CYS continue with their invaluable messaging and tools
for the young females in treatment at Daybreak. Unfortunately addiction, and abuse are
increasing with the stress and uncertainty of the Covid virus. CYS provides life saving tools to
help these young girls navigate through these stressful times. CYS breaks down barriers and
allows for honest open discussions in a safe environment.”
